Your Marine service in Iraq and the powerful insights from Hillbilly Elegy—which so vividly highlight the struggles of working-class veterans and their families—resonate deeply with my own experiences as a US Army veteran grappling with PTSD. I am S. Vincent Anthony, author and advocate, and I humbly implore you, in your esteemed role as Vice President, to join the Leadership Council of Serenity Stronghold. Your policy focus on rural health, addiction recovery, and support for those who’ve served could amplify our mission, advocating for essential funding and expanding family support initiatives to reach even the most underserved veterans.
Serenity Stronghold is an accelerated 6-year action plan to fully resolve the veterans’ crisis by 2031, establishing 50 centers nationwide with innovative therapies like model train railroading (targeting 50–80% PTSD reduction), animal-assisted healing, EMDR, and AI-driven tools, alongside 10,000 Housing First units and comprehensive job training. Partnering with the VA and veteran-owned builders, we’ll achieve 100% housing stability for the 32,882 homeless veterans, enroll all with PTSD in treatment for 80% symptom reduction, secure employment for the unemployed, and prevent the tragic loss of nearly 18 veterans to suicide each day. Extending services to first responders, we’ll address their parallel challenges through co-located programs. With a $1 billion annual budget sourced from federal, foundation, and corporate support, your leadership could secure vital endorsements and resources from the highest levels of government.
